What will help even more is if your work makes the manager look even better. If a manager looks good because of you, then you look good to your manager. The manager will be more likely to suggest that you get a promotion. After all, the manager will be the one that will get your name recognized by the company if they speak highly of your work abilities and leadership qualities.
Make sure that, not only does your work exude leader, but your personal qualities support it. Make sure you do not participate in any gossip, bad-mouthing any employees or your manager, and always act as if you are being monitored. You never know when someone is going to come into the area and hear negative talk. So, do yourself a favor and just keep your personal opinions to yourself. It is better to avoid the negative comments and keep your reputation intact.
Leaders provide a workplace the focus and the support needed to succeed with any task. When a problem occurs, the decision to react or rationalize a solution is greatly influenced by the skills employees possess. When an employee takes the initiative to react and resolve the problem, this is noticed by the manager.
